At The Learning Tree, March was all about celebrating the joy of reading. Every year, we look forward to March Reading Month as an opportunity to spark imagination, explore new ideas, and cultivate a lifelong love of books in our children. This year, every classroom across all of our centers joined in the fun, transforming their spaces and routines into vibrant, story-filled celebrations. And wow—what a magical month it was!
Throughout March, teachers designed themed lesson plans that revolved around some of our favorite books and story topics. From exploring books about kindness and friendship to diving into animal adventures or magical lands, each theme was chosen to engage children’s curiosity and encourage early literacy skills. Reading wasn’t just part of our day—it was woven into every learning moment.
One of the most beloved traditions of Reading Month is our door decorating challenge, and this year’s displays were truly a sight to see! Each classroom decorated its door to reflect a favorite book or genre. As families walked through the halls, they were greeted with colorful, creative scenes inspired by picture books, fairy tales, nature stories, and more. These doors sparked so many conversations and brought our whole school community together in celebration of storytelling.
Beyond the classroom walls, we invited families to join the fun with our “Look, I Read a Book!” home reading tracker. Children brought home reading logs to fill out with their families, proudly listing the books they read together each night. Every time a child completed a book, they were celebrated at school with high-fives, encouragement, and lots of smiles. It was so heartwarming to see how excited the children were to share what they had read and to see their names on our reading walls. Together, families and teachers helped create a joyful culture of reading that extended far beyond the school day.
Inside the classroom, the celebrations continued with daily read-aloud, puppet shows, dramatic play based on stories, and story-themed art and sensory projects. Books came to life through role-play, creative expression, and hands-on activities that deepened comprehension and made reading a multi-sensory experience. Teachers created cozy reading corners, invited children to bring in their favorite books to share, and even hosted “reading buddies” sessions where children read to each other.
What made this month truly special was the excitement we saw in the children every single day. Whether they were pretending to be characters from a story, carefully choosing a book to take home, or adding their name to the reading tracker, they were fully engaged and proud of their progress. Their enthusiasm was contagious—and a beautiful reminder of how powerful books can be in building confidence, curiosity, and connection.
We’re so thankful to our teachers for going above and beyond to make March Reading Month unforgettable. Their creativity, dedication, and love for literacy were evident in every activity, every decorated door, and every story shared. And to our families—thank you for reading at home, encouraging your child’s love of books, and being an essential part of this journey.
As we turn the page on March, we carry forward the joy and momentum of Reading Month. Books have a special way of bringing people together, and at The Learning Tree, we’re proud to nurture not only early literacy, but a lifelong love of learning.
Here’s to many more stories, adventures, and magical reading moments ahead!
