Hi there, my name is Paula Mercieca and I am the Center Director at The Learning Tree South Lyon! I will be celebrating my 9 year anniversary this June. I love that everyday is different and you never know what is going to happen when you step into a room with kiddos!
I grew up right here in South Lyon, so South Lyon will always be home! When I graduated High School I began my journey into education. I went to Eastern Michigan University where I pursued my degree in Language Arts and minored in Early Childhood. During my days at Eastern, you could find me at the Friday’s in Ann Arbor. As life is always a journey, I found myself looking to do what I was passionate about which has always been children! That is when I began my career at The Learning Tree! I can still remember getting the call, and saying, “YES!” I started out as the Pre-K Assistant. The Fall of 2011 I was given the opportunity to become the Lead School-Age/Kindergarten teacher. From there I was given the opportunity to go to our South location as Lead Preschool. When a position for assistant Director became available back in South Lyon, I jumped on it! From there I became Co-Director and then Director, see South Lyon is Home! That is one aspect that I always hit home with, whether it be with a tour or a prospective teacher! South Lyon is HOME, Everyone knows everyone! I absolutely love being a part of The Learning Tree family there is nothing like it around!
