The Learning Tree celebrated 40 Years this September! What a huge milestone! During the month of September we had extra-special activities and events including a full day celebrating together at each center with our families. We also had an evening celebration for all of our employees! Before we share a fun recap of all our events, we wanted to share with you a little bit about Carol’s history!
Carol Gatewood is the founder of The Learning Tree. In 1982, as a working mother of two, she needed reliable and quality care for her children. Carol was running a heating and cooling business and had a vision of The Learning Tree that came to life!
Carol is actively involved in The Learning Tree. She mentors her Regional Directors and is constantly striving for continuous improvements on every area of her program! She celebrates our accomplishments and sets goals that she trusts we can reach. She treats her team like family and is always true to her Core Values. Carol has 9 grandchildren and is always making memories with each of them. Her grandchildren attended The Learning Tree in their early years!

A fun fact: The Learning Tree originally opened in a Livonia Public School school with 5 classrooms and every week it seems they were calling licensing to open another room because of how quickly they grew!
***2022: Lyon Township Learning Tree starts construction to open in 2023!!
Now we are excited to share with you how we celebrated with our families and employees!
We hosted a delicious parent breakfast and one of our favorite activies; LT ROCKS! We had an amazing time celebrating with our families in the morning and afternoon and are so grateful to have such amazing families that choose The Learning Tree every single day.
For our employees, we brought together all our employees at all five locations and had a night to remember! The evening was full of games, prizes, gifts, a theatre show, laughs and so much more. We wanted to give a special thank you to all of our Learning Tree families for supporting our early closure in order for our employees to make it to the event.
